A lot of people don’t realize this but you can hike all year long. Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you should skip an adventure to McDowell Creek Falls.

Alright, I’ll be honest. This is a hike we take in the summer. That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t check it out in the fall or winter. It just means we haven’t, yet. It’s just always fun to find waterfalls you can swim beneath. So maybe put this on your to do list for next summer. That way you can cross “swim under a waterfall” off your bucket list.

History

McDowell Creek Falls is a county park run by the Linn County Park and Recreation department. It is open all year long. There are 3 miles of hiking trails in the park. If you aren’t much for hiking most of the views can be seen not to far from the road.

Cost

Like so many other places we wander to, this place is free. There’s always gas money though. Maybe we should invest in a vehicle with better gas mileage.

Extras

Here you will get to see not just one but two waterfalls. You can hike on trails or on the road. If you want to, you can drive to the falls or walk. You can make it a three mile hike or a thirty foot hike. This park definitely gives you options. The whole time you are surrounded by the beautiful green environment Oregon offers. Don’t forget to bring lunch with you because they have picnic tables too.
